Apple’s latest “budget-friendly” top-of-the-line iPhones are the 14s and 14 Plus. Along with the more expensive iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Max, these gadgets are now available for purchase at TELUS, Global Cell Communications. iPhone 14 series are available for Personal, Telus EPP, and Business customers starting at $0 upfront with Telus Easy Payment.

iPhone 14 Design

The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus maintain a sleek and attractive design. You can choose from the two sizes available: 6.1 and 6.7 inches. The latter option is the Plus variant. Similar to iPhone 13, 14 models have an aluminum frame with flat edges, and their glass back allows for wireless charging.

iPhone 14 Display and Screen

Unlike the iPhone 14 Pro, the 14 and 14 Plus retain the notch at the top of the screen for the TrueDepth camera. For the display section, they use Super Retina XDR OLED panels, just like the iPhone 13 models.

Plus, they feature Dolby Vision and True Tone, which adjusts the white balance based on the ambient lighting. They also include a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits. Unfortunately, these versions do not incorporate ProMotion display technology, which is reserved for the Pro models.

Lastly, the TELUS iPhone 14’s display is protected by a tough Ceramic Shield front shell. It can also withstand being submerged in water up to 6 meters for 30 minutes thanks to the iPhone 14’s IP68 water resistance.

iPhone 14 Computing Power

The A15 chip powers the new iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models, the only difference being its interior design, modified to increase thermal efficiency. The A15 processor is equipped with a 16-core Neural Engine, a 5-core GPU, and a 6-core CPU.

Camera

For better low-light performance, the 12-megapixel Wide camera has been enhanced with a bigger sensor, /1.5 aperture, and larger 1.9 m pixels, and sensor-shift optical image stabilization has also been included. While Apple didn’t upgrade the Ultra Wide lens, the Ultra Depth camera and the TrueDepth camera both benefit from the Photonic Engine, which enhances low-light performance.

The Ultra Wide camera, the TrueDepth camera, and the Wide camera all experience up to a 2x improvement in low-light performance thanks to the Photonic Engine’s combination of hardware and software. Expanding on Deep Fusion, the Photonic Engine delivers stunning realism by maintaining fine textures and enhancing color.

When shooting video, the Action mode offers the best image stabilization possible for a smoother, more professional look. Even when filming in the heat of battle, the Action setting can compensate for significant shaking, motion, and vibrations.

Performance

The iPhone 14 models are equipped with a dual-core accelerometer that can measure up to 256Gs. The iPhone’s Crash Detection feature will instantly contact emergency services in the event of a serious accident, thanks to its accelerometer and high dynamic range gyroscope.

Apple also added additional sensors to enable this innovation, such that the GPS can identify unexpected speed changes, the barometer can detect changes in cabin pressure, and the microphone can listen for vehicle crash sounds.

When neither WiFi nor cellular service is available, Apple’s latest iPhone may now connect directly to satellites through a new feature called Emergency SOS. In open areas with few trees, satellite-based emergency SOS can be used to send texts to emergency responders.

When you’re out in the wilderness hiking or camping, you may use satellite internet to update your loved ones on your whereabouts with the included app. Users in The United States and Canada can use it for free for a full two years.

The new iPhone 14 models employ the same Qualcomm X65 modem as the iPhone 13 models, and they both offer 5G connectivity (sub-6GHz and mmWave in the United States). Since most U.S. airlines use eSIM, iPhones no longer come with SIM cards.

The iPhone 14 boasts enhanced battery life, lasting an hour longer than the iPhone 13. The iPhone 14 Plus’s greater size results in an even longer battery life compared to the iPhone 14. The iPhone 14’s battery life is up to 20 hours, while that of the iPhone 14 Plus is up to 26 hours when playing videos continuously.

Conclusion

The TELUS iPhone 14 is available with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage space. Fast charging is supported for chargers starting from 20W and above, while the MagSafe feature is still supported for charging below the 15W rate. Both the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are compatible with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.
